Your life has been turned upside down overnight. Now you navigate through diapers, kisses, sleepless nights, cries, cuddles, dirty clothes, new smells, exposed breasts, bottles, extreme exhaustion, visits, paperwork… and LOVE, a lot of LOVE.
I suggest a pause in the whirlwind of the immediate postpartum. Stop. Breathe. Enjoy their first photo session.
I WANT YOU TO KNOW
I’ve been specializing in newborn photography for 9 years, and my style, like everything in life, has evolved. When I started, I enjoyed putting babies in baskets and dressing them in little hats with ears… It was what I had been taught, and I was quite good at it.
But some time ago, I did an exercise in empathy with the babies who come to my studio, and I questioned whether these were the photos I would like to have.
So, over time, I’ve moved away from elaborate props and complicated poses to focus on the true star, your baby, and, of course, older siblings if there are any.
In my photos, you’ll see babies with simple wraps, modest hats, or tiny stuffed animals, and lots of hands holding, arms hugging, and lips kissing. Lots of connection and love.
These sessions are truly special to me. After four long years battling infertility, when I finally held my eldest daughter in my arms... you can imagine the rush and cocktail of emotions that ran through my body. Since then, every time I hold a baby just a few days old, I somehow relive those first moments as a mother. And I love it.
Newborn sessions are done within the first 10-15 days of the baby’s life, especially so you can remember them as they were at birth. You’ll see how much they change in just a week.
During the session, you can rest or enjoy the show. Feel free to share your birth experience or how you’re feeling, if you like. No judgments. Mothers listening to and supporting mothers.
It’s important to come without rushing. Your baby will set the pace for the session. We’ll pause as many times as needed for feedings, diaper changes, or any discomfort. We don’t watch the clock during these sessions, as babies are unpredictable... On the other hand, we can take breaks to observe, chat, and have a coffee if parents need to rest and catch their breath. The excitement is guaranteed. If you’re still concerned about timing, I can tell you that we usually dedicate two to two and a half hours to each session, sometimes more, sometimes less.
It’s okay if your baby doesn’t sleep during the session. Still, I dare say that with my experience and skills (I’ve put many babies to sleep), very few babies resist. It’s quite possible you’ll leave with more than one trick to calm your baby, release gas, or get them to sleep—many parents thank me for this. And if they don’t sleep despite everything, we’ll take photos of the baby awake; it’s no problem at all.
My studio is fully equipped to care for the littlest ones. A cozy studio. Equipped with a changing table, diapers, wipes, and everything you need for your baby. A sofa where you can wait, observe, and enjoy. A play area for older siblings. A relaxation corner with coffee, tea, or herbal infusions. Always the right temperature to ensure the little ones are comfortable, even if they’re not dressed.
We can also take photos at the hospital for a more documentary-style report; it’s especially touching to capture the moment older siblings meet the newborn, and it’s well worth having it documented (I did it myself). Another option is at your own home for the convenience of older siblings. If you choose to have the session at home, don’t worry about order or cleanliness. If I recall anything from my immediate postpartum, it’s the chaos that reigned in my home… a complete disaster, so don’t worry!
The session is for a single family unit consisting of parents, baby, and older siblings if any. Grandparents are also welcome. Older siblings should be involved, as they are the other key players. These sessions are held in the morning on weekdays. Most families don’t take older siblings to school that day or go later. If older siblings are participating, we’ll start with family photos so they can play or go to school, and we can then calmly finish with the baby alone.

If you click the button below, you’ll be able to see more examples. But I warn you, each session is unique, especially newborn sessions, and your photos may not look like the ones you see below. This might be a drawback for you, but for me, it’s what makes each session and each family unique.
